Taj Mahal--The Monumental Wonder
taj MahalThe 'monument of love', Taj Mahal is the most famous monument of India. This exceptionally beautiful white monument, made in marble and precious stones, reflect the Mughal architecture at its best. Made by the famous Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan--for his beloved queen Mumtaj Mahal (Arjumand Banu)--Taj Mahal is a celebration of woman built in marble.

The pearly white Taj, a romance in stone, is the pride of not only Agra, Uttar Pradesh where it is located but also India. The most beautiful monument ever built for love, Taj Mahal is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Located on the right bank of the Yamuna River, the Taj appears to glow in the light of the full moon.

It took 18 long years (1631-48) and more than 20,000 craftsmen to build this amazing structure that has not only stood the test of time but continued to be an epitome of love even after so many years.

Much surprisingly, the Taj looks breathtaking and graceful from almost any angle. Whether you see it from front or from back, from a distance or from an arm's distance, it looks wonderful and mesmerizing though its close up detail is more amazing.

Taj Mahal remains open for the visitors from 6 AM to 7 PM on all days, except Fridays.
