Ellora Ajanta Dance Festival as the name suggests is held in the city of Ajanta and Ellora caves, Aurangabad. Ajanta and Ellora are the landmarks of India. Caves of Ajanta and Ellora are the two most alluring tourist destinations of India. Earlier the Ellora Ajanta Dance Festival used to be held in the surrounding of the world Heritage Site – the Temple of Ellora. Just 30 kms from the main city Aurangabad in Maharashtra, Ellora consists of 34 caves. Discovered between 600-1000A.D., the caves belong to Buddhist, Jain and Hindu faiths. Kailash Temple, the masterpiece of Ellora is the world’s largest monolithic sculpture till date. It took 150 years and hard work of 7000 laborers to sculpt out the Kailash Temple.

The Ellora Ajanta Dance Festival is now held in the Soneri Mahal in Aurangabad. It is a festival of dance and music. Ellora Ajanta Dance and Music Festival allures tourists all over the world. The festival presents a mix of classical and folk-dances, vocals and Milajaula Mushaira etc. The most talented artists of their fields perform on the Ellora Ajanta Dance Festival. Organized by Aurangabad Festival Committee under the chairmanship of the Divisional Commissioner Aurangabad in association with Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation, Ellora Ajanta Dance Festival brings the historical and pictorial sites of Aurangabad in limelight. Performances of the talented Indian Dancers and Musicians give soul to Daulatabad, Bibi-ka-Maqbara, Panchakki (A watermill), Lonar, Shirdi, and the magnificent caves of Ellora and Ajanta, imbibing centuries of history and culture.
