Surajkund is located on the Delhi - Agra national highway in the district of Faridabad. Surajkund is just 20 Km from Delhi. Surajkund derives its name from a old Sun temple that used to be there once. Some historians also claim that it was named after Tomar King Surajpal himself. King Surajpal is also credited with the construction of the present reservoir that completes the name of this place. The site is home for now famous Surajkund Crafts Mela
Surajkund Crafts Mela, was started as a promotional event in 1981 by Haryana Tourism Authority. It is now a world famous event. The Crafts Mela celebrates the finest handlooms and handicrafts traditions of country. It is a fortnight long event that embodies the spirit that runs through the people of India and its rich culture. It is held in the month of February from 1st-15th and attract tourists from all over the world.
